14-28th October 2018 / Santa Lucia, Vejer de la Frontera, Spain

Superorganism

Honey bee colonies are classified as superorganisms, in which cooperating individuals in overlapping generations support functions comparable to those of cells in a multicellular organism. A superorganism is also a social organization, which transcends the biological organisms that composes it.
